High Point Market: A Week In Review & What We Have In Store For You : Ross Furniture and Interior Design Google+

ROSS

Color sophistication. This is how we would describe what we saw at High Point Market last week. We were in love with Decorize, Feizy, and Century . You can view some of their pieces that we loved in the High Point Market 2012 photo album on our facebook page- the chest with the mural, the multi-colored hutch. Color trends at Market were unreal with gold’s paired with grays, a lot of turquoise, a lot of bright and fun colors. Rowe Furniture was creating a trendy buzz with their new fabric color line: String, which contained tans, grays, and neutrals. We were able to do a little Christmas and holiday shopping for you while we were down there. Items brought back from Market for you include absolutely stunning poinsettias, sparkling icicle accent twigs, and Christmas trees in glass. There will also be more fabulous items like vases and lamps rolling in over the next few weeks, so be sure to stop by often.

High Point Market History

A little High Point Market history: High Point Market was started in 1909 in High Point, North Carolina showcasing the region’s furniture builders and retailers and was originally called the Southern Furniture Market. In 1921 the Southern Furniture Market completed the Southern Furniture Exposition Building which was a large venue for American home furnishings and would eventually serve for more than just a home furnishings market place. During World War II the Expositing Building was used by the U.S. Army and the Market was put on hold. Post-war years were the rise to a historic and modern day prominence in the home furnishings industry.
In 1989, the Market was renamed the International Home Furnishings Market as it hosted buyers and guests from over 100 different countries and became the furniture capital of the world. The venue now expands over 10 million square feet and serves an average of 80,000 attendees. In 2007 the Market renamed itself yet again with The High Point Market, which resonates with the history of the Market.
